Dr. Tina C. Mason is an Associate Professor in the Primary Care Department of Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine. A native of Chicago, Dr. Mason completed medical school at the University of Iowa, Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine and completed an Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Mason is a passionate advocate for the health of all women particularly women with reduced access to medical care. She has served as Chairman of 2 large urban medical centers; Woodhull Medical Center and Brookdale University Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. Her experience with the underserved populations of the world inspired her to complete a Master of Public Health from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. During her east coast experience she was appointed Associate Commissioner of Health with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, her tenure included direct involvement with the September 11th World Trade Center disaster.
Dr. Mason joined the Aurora University of Wisconsin Medical Group faculty as Program Director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program and Director of Medical Operations. Her interest in population health and health policy led her to serve as Medical Director for Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield’s Wisconsin Medicaid division.
When her husband was offered an opportunity to relocate from the Midwest to California, she happily accepted the challenge. In addition to her academic duties with Touro, she is actively involved with improving health services for populations that receive care from Federally Qualified Health Clinics in Vallejo California.
Dr. Mason is married to Rendall Thomas, has 3 children, and is the proud ‘Grandma’ of 5.Her interests include, Infant Mortality, Pediatric Gynecology, Contraception, quality outcomes, community service, cooking, reading and travel.
