Biography
Ramona Wallace, DO, is a board-certified family physician as well as Board Certified in Functional and Integrative Medicine with the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine, working primarily at the Family Medicine Residency Program – Battle Creek. She is a graduate of Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan. She earned her medical degree from MSU's College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed a family practice residency at Michigan State University – St. Lawrence Hospital Family Practice Residency Program. Board Certifications through ABOFM, AOBFM,IFMCP.
After residency, Dr. Wallace worked in Private practice for 17 years in Mid Michigan doing full scope Family Practice including inpatient and obstetrics. In 2009 She moved to Muskegon to work in the the public health field at MFC, Muskegon, Michigan, eventually becoming their Chief Medical Officer. She was instrumental in integrating behavioral and oral health coaches in that clinic and as well as establishing a CARF accredited Behavioral Health facility within the community that integrated Behavioral Health support with medical in that facility.. Under her leadership, the clinic also started using the social determinants of health at a clinical level, which led to the development of community gardens and addressing food deserts within the community by bringing in Prescriptions for Health.She lead the State in cultural integration using the SDOH. She worked diligently with Esther Dyson's Community Accelerator to promote "Wellness" in Muskegon to move the needle on community health. She is passionate about helping people and their community achieve and sustain vitality and wellness.
Dr. Wallace's clinical and research interests include Functional Medicine, Addressing Childhood obesity, supporting allied health services such as CHW in clinical settings, Social Determinants of Health as well as building Resilience.
