*LIVE WEBINAR & Q+A WITH REPLAY AVAILABLE*
Feeling 'stuck' with helping patients manage their IBS-C or chronic idiopathic constipation?
I get it. I'm Andrea Hardy, registered dietitian, and co-founder of Nutrition Academy.
Constipation is one of those things where I find my and Susan's team gets 'stuck'.
Constipation management can be tricky, especially when the constipation exacerbates so many other symptoms; changes in appetite, bloating, distension, and pain. It's hard to tease out exactly where you need to go to get people feeling better.
I do a lot of one-on-one RD support, and what I find I get the most calls for is IBS-C. RD's wondering if a patient has SIBO, if they've missed something, or why the low FODMAP diet isn't working.
Patients have 'tried everything' but are still feeling pain, having bloating, and experiencing other gut symptoms – despite our best attempts at managing those symptoms.
The answer is simple: Resolve the constipation FIRST, before you can move on to managing other symptoms or dealign with differential diagnoses!
But How?
This workshop is going to give you the tools, practice algorithm, up-to-date evidence, and knowledge to provide patients with appropriate guidance, and coordinate care with allied health as needed!
Join us March 28th at 11 am MST/1 pm EST! Replay will be available afterward.

I don't often get personal. But I find, sharing my story helps to understand the complexity of constipation management.
I myself have IBS-C – which developed as a result of a GI bug in University. I started off with IBS-D, progressing to IBS-M, and finally, on to IBS-C, where my gut seems to have settled out.
I have to say, I wasn't distressed, until I developed the IBS-C. Being constipated is one of the most frustrating gut symptoms I think I have had.
When I started my private practice, I was really passionate about helping all my patients with IBS. Overtime, I began to understand – constipation management is one of the most complex conditions to support people in.
And that's simply because the causes can vary SO much.
Once I had a solid understanding of the various causes of constipation – I found I was much better equipped to guide patients on their IBS journey.
This training workshop is something I've developed out of creating a practical, evidence based practice aalgorithm for my staff, combining my experience, the evidence, and what I find to be most beneficial to patients from a practical perspective.
In the workshop we will review:
- The causes of chronic constipation
- How to assess the patient so you can better understand the cause of their constipation
- What we consider our Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary interventions
- Where to go/what to ask for if these interventions don't work
- A review of the current medications used in constipation management
- Case studies on common presentations and how we have dealt with them
- A cheat-sheet/ practice algorithm to help guide you when dealing with these patients
I strongly believe if we support patients in appropriate management of constipation we can reduce their stress, their need to turn to alternative, expensive treatments, and give them better quality of life.
If you're ready to make a bigger impact on your patients constipation – this is a must-attend workshop!
