Mona Delahooke – Beyond Behaviors: Effective Neuroscience-based Tools to Transform Childhood Behaviors featuring Dr. Mona Delahooke
Nearly every day, I encounter clinicians, teachers, and parents who are desperately seeking answers for how to help children overcome “challenging behaviors.”
And I understand the frustration… the sad truth is that the traditional strategies we have for helping children are failing.
Time-out rooms, behavior chart consequences, and other methods that focus on correcting behaviors aren’t working for the simple reason that they don’t take into consideration the reasons underlying behavioral challenges: the child’s individual differences and the state of the child’s nervous system.
Each child has a unique background, different strengths and challenges, and are at different points in their development. They require customized plans, rooted in science, that are specific to their needs.
That’s why I’m excited to invite you to join me and learn a new and MUCH more effective approach to helping children and their caregivers…
…one that leverages the neuroscience of development and Polyvagal Theory insights that have been grossly underused in supporting children and families.
Through six practical, step-by-step modules filled with real-life case samples, you’ll learn:
- How to work with children of any background or developmental stage, including those who’ve experienced trauma or have been diagnosed with a disorder.
- How to easily use Polyvagal Theory insights to understand and change behaviors.
- How to use both top-down AND bottom-up methods to effectively engage children in the way that’s catered to their needs.
- What to do in moments where behaviors get big and out of hand.
- And so much more!
Whether you work directly with children, or you’re helping a client caregiver who’s feeling inadequate, this course is for you!
Course Schedule
- 3 different pieces to understanding child development.
- 4 main categories of causes underneath the “waterline” of visible behaviors.
- How to use neuroception to understand if children are feeling safe or in danger.
