First presented at the 2019 OPSO Primary Care CME conference. OPSO is pleased to present this on-demand CME program from this popular presentation by Mark Baldwin, DO: "Why Does my Patient Have Portein in Their Urine?"
Educational Objectives:
– Understand the difference between nephrotic and nephritic syndromes
– Understand the full spectrum of disorders related to proteinuria and their pathophysiological effects

Dr. Baldwin graduated from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences – College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCU-COM) in 1983. He completed a rotating internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine – Midwestern University and a fellowship in Renal Disease and Hypertension at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago. Dr. Baldwin is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine and as a Medical Examiner by the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners. He is also certified as a Specialist in Clinical Hypertension by the American Society of Hypertension.
During his twenty-plus years in private practice in Columbus, Ohio, he was actively involved in all medical education levels. He developed and taught the renal curriculum at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine for fifteen years. Dr. Baldwin is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine in Yakima, Washington. He is involved in research on chronic kidney disease in agricultural workers and has received numerous teaching awards.
