Dr. Duwve is an associate dean for practice and clinical associate professor of health policy and administration at the Indiana University Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health in Indianapolis. She created the Center for Public Health Practice to support public health practice around the state and provide opportunities to link students to public health practice. In 2018, she was awarded an IU Addictions Grand Challenge grant to develop an ECHO Center at IUPUI. The ECHO Center currently supports training to diagnose and manage hepatitis C and HIV, and on culturally informed care of LGBTQ+ patients. Dr. Duwve is a member of the Addictions Grand Challenge Scientific Advisory Committee and the principal investigator on a Mixed Methods research project in Scott County. She loves working with students and staff on campus community projects, like Drug Take Back events and HPV vaccination initiatives, poverty simulations and campus movie nights.Dr. Duwve served as a Medical Director, and then the Chief Medical Officer at the Indiana State Department of Health for 10 years. She currently serves on a National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine Evaluation Committee, the Infectious Diseases Policy Committee for the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials, and the boards of Covering Kids and Families and the Indiana Public Health Association. Dr. Duwve received her MPH from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI, and worked in international public health prior to receiving her M.D. from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. She is board certified in family medicine and practiced in clinical medicine for 14 years before returning to public health. Recently, she began working with CleanSlate treating patients with opioid use disorder.
