Students study rhetoric (balagha) and complex grammatical structures. This equips students to better capture subtleties in translation and to understand and translate advanced structures. In the later parts of the program, students transition into the study jahili Arabic poetry and literature to better understand the linguistic and historical context in which the Qur’an was revealed and to try to begin to better appreciate the uniqueness and eloquence of the Qur’an.
