David Tannehill – Medical Decision Making

This lecture will consider the large negative impact of diagnostic errors on the healthcare system and strategies for addressing challenging environmental factors that hinder proper medical decision-making.

1. Recognize the large negative impact Diagnostic Error has on the healthcare system
2. Develop a mental model of the healthcare Work System and the multiple interdependent relationships within that system that can both positively and negatively impact Medical Decision Making
3. Create strategies for addressing challenging environmental factors that hinder proper Medical Decision Making.

This program was planned and implemented by the Montana Osteopathic Association (MOA) and was accredited by the Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians & Surgeons (MAOPS).

The Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians and designates this program for a maximum of 0.75 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity.

Grievance Policy:
All grievances should be in writing and should specify the nature of the grievance.  Initially, all grievances should be directed to MAOPS Executive Director, who will then forward said grievance to the Education & Convention Committee.  All grievances will receive an initial response in writing within 30 days of receipt.  If the participant does not receive a satisfactory response, then they can then submit a complaint in writing to the Bureau of Osteopathic Education of the AOA at 142 East Ontario Street, Chicago, IL 60611.
