Catherine Oxley – Crepe Paper Rose Foliage
Create realistic rose foliage stems using colouring and assembly techniques to achieve organic results
Detailed foliage is the key. Just as important as the bloom itself is the foliage of the flower stem. It goes a long way to completing a realistic look for the flower you have worked hard to create. Do your flower justice by taking the time and effort to create an outstanding foliage stem that will make your completed piece look 100%.
This course will lead you through a series of steps to create two foliage stems for your completed rose. You will create leaves with detail and interest through paper colouring techniques, and shaping them with their characteristic serrated edges.
Most importantly, you will learn how to assemble your foliage stem without bulk, creating smooth transitions between the leaf additions to sculpt a neat and tidy stem ready to apply to your finished rose.
Creating a beautiful stem of leaves can sometimes take just as much time as the blooms themselves, but they are integral to making your finished project sing. The best part is the techniques in this course move beyond rose foliage, and can be applied to all of your foliage projects. After completing this course, you’ll never look at paper foliage stems the same!
