· Illustrate the appropriate workup needed prior to referral.
· Develop a differential diagnosis of symptoms of thyroid disease.
· Identify patients who actually need thyroid specialists for general thyroid disease and thyroid nodules.

The Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. Dr. Kirila graduated from the University of Health Sciences – College of Osteopathic Medicine (now known as Kansas City University – College of Osteopathic Medicine) and completed a rotating internship at Still Regional Medical Center in Jefferson City, Missouri (now known as Capital Region Medical Center). She completed her residency in Internal Medicine with the University of Missouri – Kansas City at St. Luke’s Hospital and Truman Medical Center West. Dr. Kirila is board certified in Internal Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists. Currently, she is an assistant professor of Internal Medicine at Kansas City University – College of Osteopathic Medicine.
