My journey to 6 figures

 

Hi, I’m Hugo Fernandez. 

I know what it’s like to start with nothing, have very few – if any – options, and yet still make 6 figures, because that’s exactly what I did!

You see, although I was raised in a beautiful loving family, we had very little money. As a family of 6 growing up in the US, we lived way below the poverty line. My dad never made it past third grade and never earned more than $14/hr.

In fact, nobody among our family and friends made more than $30k a year. I grew up selling Mexican candy out of my backpack to pay for school supplies and selling tamales door to door after school to help my parents.

I stood in food bank lines with my mom. I got free lunches and free clothes at school.  

Needless to say, money (or lack of) was a HUGE reason why we struggled so much. To make matters worse, when I was 4 years old my mother and I had immigrated to the United States from Mexico, which meant I was an undocumented immigrant. 

Before graduating high school, my family had moved 14 times, trying to find better opportunities (and cheaper rent). 

The blueprint society had for everyone else – go to school, get a degree, get a good job, buy a home, retire when you’re 65 – simply wasn’t available to me due to my legal status. But the blueprint my parents had – work ridiculously hard and wish for the best – wasn’t working out that well for me either!

I knew there had to be another way…

After working full time manual labor jobs since I was 15, working a few commission-only sales jobs, and unable to get anything better, in 2012 I started my own business right on my 21st birthday. 

Most people go out drinking on their 21st birthday. 

I sat at home on my computer and Googled “How to start a business.” 

This led me to start Just Digital Inc, now one of the top rated digital marketing agencies in Los Angeles. 

By 24, I was making $10k/month consistently. By 25 I made my first 6 figures in a full year ($143,412 in sales, $124,399 in gross profit according to my tax return).   

Since then my life has radically improved, not because of the money I make, but because of the person I’ve become in the process.  

Now I want to share everything I’ve learned with you because I wish someone had told me “It’s possible” when I was just a kid knocking on doors and selling tamales.
